Art
Through Art, children learn to use different materials and skills to explore and express their ideas, feelings and reactions to the world and to create 2D and 3D artefacts. At Cherbourg, children are taught skills that allow them to experiment with a range of techniques, then create and refine their work in a way that encourages pride in finished pieces. They also learn to evaluate and give opinions about their own art and the work of known artists. Children study examples of art from a variety of historical periods and cultures, making links with other areas of the curriculum.
Cherbourg Primary School has established links with galleries, museums and artists and the children regularly have opportunities to take part in local art projects both in and out of school.
