Fixed Term, Part-time Inclusion support assistant

We are looking for a part-time fixed-term inclusion support assistant, for our Jarjums team, who can understand the ways in which behaviour communicates a message and who want to support children to achieve. We are seeking people who are capable, cheerful, resilient and enthusiastic to work with our children, and who have a particular interest or experience in working with children with SEMH. Anyone joining our school would need to demonstrate a commitment to genuine inclusion.

We are very proud of Jarjums, which is our resourced provision for pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. Our policy is to include these pupils into their mainstream classes as often as possible, supported where necessary by the Jarjums Team.

Although prior experience is useful, we are looking for people with the right ‘zest’ for including children, and helping them achieve the best versions of themselves

We can train you in managing behaviour; help you to develop strategies for supporting social and emotional needs and enable you to deliver programmes of support. We will also offer training in Team Teach. Your role will be to support pupils to access learning within mainstream classes, whilst delivering 1 to 1 interventions at other times of the day.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking to gain skills working with children, prior to undertaking a role in child psychology, speech and language, or teaching. We are also looking for people who would like to be  well-equipped adaptable support staff.

The roles will be for a Grade B or Grade C post, dependent on experience and ability to fulfil the person specification. Hours are 22 hours per week, with 4 days being 8:30-12:30 and one full day 8:30am until 3:00pm. We are seeking to appoint a Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant to join our friendly team of Lunchtime staff, who work really hard to make lunchtimes in our school fun and enjoyable for our children. You should enjoy working as part of a team within a school environment and be able to communicate with both children and adults.

 No previous experience of this role is necessary.

Early applications are encouraged as we will be holding interviews as and when we receive applications.

 Duties will include:

• supervising children while they eat their lunch in the dinner hall, classrooms and outside areas
• Assisting with associated duties, e.g. cleaning up spillages, ensuring tables are clean etc.
• Encouraging good table manners and promoting healthy eating
• ensuring the safety, welfare and positive behaviour of all children
• helping the children to enjoy their lunchbreak by actively promoting and supporting positive play and playground activities
• basic administration of first aid

The role is from 12pm to 1.30pm, Monday to Friday, £25,221 FTE, actual annual salary £4,373.
