Newsletter 9 – 2017/18 – 2nd February 2018

Firstly a great big thank you to all the grandparents who came in a couple of weeks ago for the Grandparents’ Games afternoon. It was a real success and
everyone enjoyed their time together. It was good to have a few representatives of our local Age UK too.

This week we have had visits from trainee teachers from Lausanne in Switzerland and from Barcelona in Spain. Both sets of visitors were really impressed with our school and the work the children are doing. The students from University of Barcelona gave presentations to the children about school in Spain and taught us a song in Catalan that we will be learning better and sing when we say thank you for our food.

Last week, Cherbourg school had a visit from the deputy mayor of Eastleigh and Giles Gooding, the Borough’s Sustainability Specialist. We had been given
the opportunity to name one of the Eastleigh Borough Council food waste collection vehicles and the winning name was ‘Binetta’. This can be seen now on one of the lorries working round the borough.

If you want to order a free food waste bin and help generate more electricity please contact Eastleigh Borough Council or
call 023 8086 8000 Please can parents not park in the turning circle at the top of Cranbury Road.

We realise that parking spaces are limited in the road, but we do ask that you park safely and without inconveniencing our neighbours.

Just to let you know that the report from the Ofsted visit should be out next week. Ofsted now report on their visit in the form of a letter to the Headteacher,
so it will look a little differently than previous reports and we will email it to everyone when it becomes public.

Our work example today is by Lewis Osbourne in Y6 who has produced a beautifully presented piece of descriptive writing.
