Newsletter 7 – 2017/18 – 1st December 2017

Poppy Appeal

Thank you to all that purchased a poppy from school for Remembrance Sunday. We have been notified by the Poppy Appeal that we collected £131.92.

Email Addresses

If you have previously provided the school office with an email address and you haven’t been receiving newsletters please contact the office so that we can double check the email address that we have on file. Please also check in your Junk/Spam folders in case they have gone into there in error.

Casual Lunchtime Supervisor Vacancy

We are looking for a new member of staff to join our team of lunchtime supervisors on a casual basis. If you could occasionally spare a couple of hours at lunchtime and would be available at short notice, please see Mrs Greer.

Children’s Lunchboxes

Our dinner hall can get quite busy at lunchtimes and is staffed by our lunchtime supervisors who monitor how much the children are eating from their lunchboxes, but unfortunately it is not possible to check every child. If you are concerned about how much your child is eating then please speak to the office and they will pass this information onto the lunchtime staff who can monitor individual children more closely for a period of time and report this back to you.

Christmas Activities

A separate Christmas Activities letter will be sent home next week containing all the information regarding parties, Christmas dinners etc.

School Disco

Don’t forget our school disco tonight, KS1 6-7pm and KS2 7.15-8.15pm, please pay £2 on the door and if you provide your child with tuck shop money they will not need any more than £2 to spend.

We have had an increase in bikes being ridden by our pupils and non pupils in the school playground, this puts children and parents at risk, therefore we ask you not to ride them on school premises.

Just recently we have had reports about the dangerous driving of some of our parents when dropping off or picking up their children from school. Please ensure you are parked in a designated parking bay and not across the zig zag lines or across the school gates at either end of the school day. We have also had reports about cars pulling up in Derby Road against the kerb to drop off when children are trying to cross the road safely.

Friends of Cherbourg

As you may be aware our Friends of Cherbourg committee will soon be standing down from their roles and they are looking for new members to join to continue with our successful events like the school disco, summer fair and fundraising which are reliant on Friends of Cherbourg to go ahead and unfortunately these are at risk if we do not have new members. If you are interested in joining, Friends of Cherbourg will be holding their AGM on Wednesday 6th December in the function room at The Station, High Street, Eastleigh at 7pm.
