Target setting meetings for parents and carers
Next week teaching staff will be available on Tuesday 25th September from 3.30p.m. to 5.00p.m. and on Wednesday 26th September from 3.30p.m. to 6.30p.m. for parents and carers to make individual appointments to talk about our expectations for your child this year and to give you a chance to share ideas on how we can support the child’s learning. Sign up sheets will be outside the classes from today. Call the school office for a time if you are unable to sign up in person. If you are unable to make any of the times, please catch up with your child’s class teacher to make an alternative.
Year R Tapestry Information evening
Year R staff would like to invite parents and carers of our YR pupils to an information evening on Tapestry, the online journal that we hope to complete with you throughout the year. We know many of you are already familiar with this programme, but there are always new features we can use and it’s a good way to meet other parents. These events will be on Wednesday 26th September at 5.30p.m and on Friday 28th September at 9.00a.m. The meeting will be no longer than 30 minutes, with an opportunity for questions afterwards if you would like to stay on.
Stay and Play sessions for Year R
This half term we will be hosting a ‘stay and play’ session on Tuesday 9th October, for parents and carers in Year R. You are welcome to join your child at the start of the day in the classes and experience some of the learning through play with your child.
Read Together Sessions
Regular read together sessions will be taking place throughout the school on the last Thursday of each month at 3.00pm. where possible. You will just need to sign in at the office and then go to your child’s class for 3.00p.m. to share a book with your child (and sometimes a few friends too). The sessions this term will be on Thursday 27th September and Thursday 29th December. These dates are on our school calendar.
Our Open Afternoon for parents of pupils who are due to start school in Year R in September 2019 will be on Thursday 18th October between 2.00p.m and 3.00p.m.
We have just had confirmation that our school will be receiving a brand new minibus from after half term. This is part of Hampshire County Council’s Save to Spend scheme, which means that the school will take on the passenger transport for some of our Jarjums resourced provision pupils, in return for the use of the minibus for all our Forest School and outdoor education needs. Very exciting!
Congratulations to our boys Football teams who came first and second in the Eastleigh and Winchester Schools Games Year 5 & 6 Football Tournament. They came first in the B team tournament and second in the C team tournament. The teams were able to wear their new Football Foundation Gold football kit given to us by Premier League Primary Stars. Lovely photo attached.
As you may be aware Mrs Greer is authorised to sign passport applications for our parents and children, providing she has known the parent for more than two years. We ask for a small charge for the school of a minimum of £2 per signature.
The AWCA (who organise the Eastleigh Mela every year) are having a free community meal on 26th October in the Market Place, Eastleigh. This is being held during half term – to help students who usually have free school meals – however it is a meal for all the community. Flyer is attached with more information.
A reminder that school dinners are now £2.30.
Table tennis table
We currently have a table tennis table for sale. Please pop into the school office if you are interested.
Please keep the office up to date with any changes to your contact mobile numbers, email addresses and home address and ensure that we have at least three contact names and numbers as an emergency point of contact for each child.
