Newsletter 2 – 2017/18 – 7th September 2017

Thank you for being patient with the continuing building works. It has been a lovely and calm first week back, with good learning, concentration and behaviour throughout the school.

Diary Dates and Reminders

This year’s Inset Days are 28th and 29th September, 11th December 2017, 5th March and 6th July 2018.

We will be holding reading workshops this term, where you will spend time between your child’s class and the workshop in the hall, looking at ways to support reading and use our new reading booklets. The dates are 20th September for KS1 and 27th September for KS2. Times for both are 8.50am – 10am, starting in the hall.

We will be holding Target Setting Parents/Carers’ Evenings on Monday 25th September 3.30pm – 6.30pm and Tuesday 26th September 3.30pm – 5.30pm. This is a chance for you to discuss with your child’s class teacher the targets and expectations for your child’s learning this year. Sign-up sheets for appointment times will go up outside your child’s classroom at the end of next week.

Lost property

It would be great to keep down the lost property this year. Please make sure all items are labelled regularly.

Showcase Work

On the reverse side of this newsletter is a beautiful poem written during the school holidays by Florence Fealy of Year 3. Well done Florence, lovely work!
Catching up with teachers

We appreciate that parents often need to pass on information first thing in the morning, but it can be a really difficult time for teachers to talk, whilst they are trying to bring a line of children safely into the building ready to learn. Could we ask that you use an orange communication slip from outside the front office, or to leave a message with office staff. In YR, Y1 and Y2 there will be class support staff outside the class doors most days who are also happy to pass on messages to the teachers.

Contact Information

Please ensure that you keep the school office up to date with any changes of address, telephone numbers and email addresses. It is very important that we have up to date contact numbers in case of emergencies.

Email Address

As mentioned in previous newsletters last year, we are aiming to go as paper free as possible. Even though we have a large number of email addresses already provided we are still missing a few. Please could you complete the slip below to either give us an email address if you already haven’t done so or tick the box to say you’d prefer a paper copy.

This is a copy of the letter that was sent to parents. The original had a reply slip that is not included in this online version. If you would like a copy with the original reply slip please contact the office.
